V. Francine Lewis, 90, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 at her home. Born July 16, 1926 in Lake Wales, FL, she was the daughter of Frank and Eva (Endicott) Diuguid. She married Alvin H. Lewis on January 29, 1946 in Cottage Hills. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1983. She is survived by three sons and two daughters; Gene (Sandra) Lewis, Nelson (Gayle) Lewis, Robert Lewis, Linda (Dale) Cathorall and Julie (Terry) Kraus; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Francine had four sisters and four brothers, Daisy Lewis, Cappy Grosenheider, Imogene Brown, Claudette Eatmon (Marvin), the late Dick Diuguid (Dolly), Willis Diuguid (Paula), David Diuguid (Betty) and Phil Diuguid (Kim). She had many other extended family and friends. Francine enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, Bible study, yard sales, reading, Scrabble and 25 years of swimming. Francine left an indelible mark on the life of those who knew her. The family wishes to thank all the BJC Hospice staff and caregivers for their excellent care of Francine. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
