Jessie Dirickson

Jessie Mae Dirickson, age 88, of Alton, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016, at Integrity Health Care in Wood River.

She was born May 31, 1928, in Godfrey, the daughter of Edward and Mabel (Elliot) Swift. She married Kenneth Dirickson on July 24, 1953, at Godfrey Congregational Church, and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1962.Jessie had worked at Alton Refrigeration for 26 years. She enjoyed sewing and going out to eat. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.She is survived by a daughter, Linda Kraut of South Roxana, and a son, Gary Swift; a sister, Mary Miller of Wood River; five grandchildren and their spouses, Cheryl and Bob Berger, Gary W. and Laura Lee Swift Jr., Patrick Gillson and his fiancée Misty Stone, Travis Gillson, and Ashley and Jerry Dudley; seven great-grandchildren, Isabella Berger, Kyle Swift, Tyler Gillson, Brody Gillson, Brianna Gillson, Skylar Gray, and Destinee Dudley.In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Marvin Kraut; sister, Lenora June West; and a brother-in-law, Bill Miller.Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Michael Flatt.Burial will take place in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
