Joseph M. Avramovich, 77, passed away 4:44 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Alton on April 1, 1939, he was the son of Anthony and Anna (Zagar) Avramovich.
He had been employed as a yard master for Union Pacific Rail Road for over 30 years before retiring in 2003. He enjoyed many years of coaching in the "Wildcat Football" program and Little League Baseball.
On April 8, 1970, he married Judith Ann Wooden. She died March 15, 1995.
Surviving are three sons, Brian Plummer of St. Louis, Michael Avramovich of Rosewood Heights, Matthew Plummer of Alton; daughter, Lynn Adcock of Carrollton; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Roam and Barbara Campbell both of Wood River.
His parents; wife; and a brother, Tommy Avramovich preceded in death.
A special 'Thank You' to Carrie Plummer for taking special care of him for the last year of his life.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father James Flach will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be to the Salvation Army Angel Tree or Riverbend Humane Society.
