Fern Lucille Lalumondier, 90, passed away 4:50 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Rosewood Care of Alton.
Born in Alton on February 24, 1926, she was the daughter of William and Viola (Smith) Weihe.
Fern had worked as a nursing aide at Wood River Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 1988.
She enjoyed working in her flower garden, needle work, cooking and loved spending time with her family.
She married Willard Lalumondier in 1951 in Alton. He died in 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret (Mike) McKeever of Alton, Barbara (Tod) Schum of Bethalto; six grandchildren, Aaron McKeever, Megan Hartmann, Amy Grossheim, Erik Floyd, Mallory Schum, Nicole Kumagai; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Meyer of Alton.
Her parents; husband; son, Bill Lalumondier;and two sisters, Tula Neuhaus and Mary Meyer preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River. Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River where she had been a member.
