Jimmielyn Castella

JERSEYVILLE-  Jimmielyn Marie (Hatfill) Castella, 75, died at 12:19 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.She was born in New Orleans, La., on Dec. 24, 1940, the middle child born to George Roy & Mercedes (Anglada) Hatfill.In her early years, Jimmielyn and her family moved to the Mattoon area, where she graduated in 1959 from Mattoon High School.  She lived most of her adult life in Arizona, where she was employed as a Registered Nurse, compassionately caring for the mentally challenged,until relocating to Effingham in 2005.  As her health declined, she moved to Jerseyville two years ago to be nearer her brother and sister in law.Surviving are two daughters, Maria Riley and Leda Hankins both of Tuscon, Az.; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother & sister in law, George "Pete" and Freddy Hatfill of Jerseyville; a sister & brother in law, Patricia & Tom Konrad of Tuscon, Az.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny Blue Castella and Peter Trent Castella.Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Riverbend Humane Society of Jerseyville.
