Zachary Scott Hunter, 16, entered his eternal home at 12 noon, Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis with his family at his side.He was born in Alton on August 31, 1999, one of three children born to Scott Henry & Sara Michelle (Finkes) Hunter.Zack attended St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville, and was currently a junior at Marquette Catholic High School in Alton.  A devoted Catholic, Zack has attended Catholic schools from start to finish, and faithfully attended Mass every Sunday.An amazing and opinionated young man, Zack was blessed with athletic ability, and was an avid hockey, tennis and soccer playing, participating on numerous teams.  His eye/hand coordination in hockey was incredible to watch, and he was very intelligent when it came time to positioning and strategy in all sports.  Although a small, skinny kid, Zack did not back down from anyone, and could trash talk like a giant.He was loving son, big brother, and grandson, who cherished his time with his family, and have a love of Ford Mustangs from the moment he laid eyes on them.He was his Dad's best friend, and they did everything together from playing pool, soccer, hockey, wrestling, watching movies, working on cars, and sharing family memories at the dinner table.Surviving are his parents, Scott & Sara Hunter of Dow; his two sisters, Aubrey Faith Hunter and Sophie Eileen Hunter both at home; his grandparents, William Louis & Sue Finkes Jr. of Dow; his great grandparents, William & Julia Finkes Sr. of Dow, and Dorothy Groves of Godfrey; along with many loving aunts, uncles cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elmer A. and Doris J. Hunter; his great grandparents, Charles A. Groves and Henry H. and Josephine F. Bimes.Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday at the Marquette Catholic High School Commons in Alton.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, officiated by Father JohnLuong, and concelebrated with Fr. William Hembrow, Fr. Patrick Gibbons and Father William Kessler.He will be laid to rest in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Beltrees.In lieu of any flowers and plants, memorials would be greatly appreciated to either St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville, Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, or to Masses.Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
