Ronnie "Chief" L. Eveans, 77 of Michael, died at 6:45 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his home.

He was born on August 7, 1938 in Reydell, Arkansas, and the late Millard W. Eveans & Cecille Browning.

After graduating from Civic Memorial, he furthered his education by obtaining his Bachelor Degree from SIUE and then his Master Degree from SIUC. He was also a past member of West lake Country Club in Jerseyville.

Ronnie married Janet (Wilson) Eveans on November 27, 1957 at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto. They were married for 58 years. Janet survives and resides in Michael.

He was a teacher at the Civic Memorial High School and owned Brighton Painting/Evco National.  He retired in 1989 and moved to Montana. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed being a pilot, golfing, fishing, hunting and archery. He was also the Montana Archery Sr. State Champion in 1995.

Besides his wife, survivors include; 2 daughters and son in law; Belinda & Joey Koeing of Marion, IL., Jana Feeley of Alton, 3 sons and daughters in law; Rocky & Gina Eveans of Alton, Ricky Eveans of Moro, Rodney & Kerrie Eveans of E. Alton, 12 Grandchildren and their spouses; Rocky Lee & Lea Eveans, Rachel Eveans, Ashley Cramer, Gregory & Kassandra Barbosa, Michael Calabrese, Kylee Eveans, Lacy Eveans, Megan & Nick Boelter, Jessica Feeley, Randi Eveans, Reese Eveans, Brandie & Chris DeSherlia, 8 Great Grandchildren; Arah, Nariah, Kyson, Ryhlon, Dayne, Addison, Rolen and Kennedy, 1 sister and brother in law; Craig & Merry Thierry and 2 nephews; Max & Evan

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step mother; Francis Eveans, 1 son; Randy Eveans, 3 grandchildren; Ricky, Robbie & Amy Eveans

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, January 18, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fieldon

Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 18, 2016 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Fieldon.

Father William Hembrow will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Holy Ghost Catholic School in Jerseyville or the Jerseyville Public Library.

The family would like to thank all the people at the Calhoun Nursing Home for the excellent care that was given to Ronnie over the past 2 years. We would also like to thank Blessing Hospice.

Following the burial in Brighton Cemetery, a luncheon will be served from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Alton Sports Tap Banquet Center

Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton are in charge of the arrangements.
