Barbara Eileen “Granny” Moreland, 76, died at 10:50 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Medora after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Eileen was born on May 5, 1939 in Brighton, one of three daughters born to Everett and Theda (Grizzle) Jones.
She grew up in Medora, graduating from Medora High School with the class of 1957.
She later moved to Jerseyville where she has made her home for the last 25 years and worked as a CNA at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for over 18 years, before retiring in 2004.
Eileen was strong in her faith and a member of the Church of Christ. It was her family, however, who brought her the most joy in life and she treasured each and every moment spent with them. She was a loving mother, doting grandmother, caring sister and kind friend to many.
She was selfless in every sense of the word, always putting the needs of others before her own. She lived a gracious life, and faced her death with courage and dignity and leaves a legacy that will live on forever in those whose lives she touched.
Surviving are her mother, Theda Jones; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet & Robert Ruyle Jr. of Medora; three grandsons and their spouses, Ben Ruyle of Medora; Robbie & Stephanie Ruyle of Medora; Dane & Candis Ruyle of Wood River; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Chloe, Christian and Dane Jr.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Vickie & Terry Trusty of Carrollton and her twin sister, Edna Ringhausen of Jerseyville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Jones as well as a brother-in-law, Forrest Ringhausen.
Per her wishes, cremation rights will be accorded and no services will be held.
Memorials may be given to the Saint Anthony’s Hospice, who the family would like to thank for the exceptional care that was shown to Eileen.
