LaVerne Hawkins

LaVerne M. Hawkins, 74, passed away at 4:22 pm Monday August 3, 2015 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington, MO.She was born April 7, 1941 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of William & Ruth Marie (Davis) Essman.LaVerne married Lilburn “Sam” Hawkins in West Alton, MO on June 10, 1989 and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2004.She worked as a clerk for Christian Hospital North East for over 25 years.LaVerne is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie Waller of Park Hills, MO and Sugar and John VanBuren, all of West Alton, Tammy & Robert Swan of Park Hills, MO; three sons, Daniel Sego of Leadwood, MO, William Turner of West Alton, and Wayne & Patricia Turner of West Alton; seventeen grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Charles Essman, five sisters, Wilma Williams, Dorothy Brassfield, June McKeen, Frances Chenault, and Shirley Benzelski.Visitation will be from 10 am until time of Eulogy Service at 1 pm Friday August 8, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in West Alton.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
