Lawrence Bray “Jack” Brueggeman, 91, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at his home in Alton. Born August 4, 1923 in Alton, he was the son of Mark and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Bray) Brueggeman. He married Rosemarie “Rosie” Hellmuth on February 23, 1952. She survives. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1946 serving in the India-Burma Theater. He was a lab technician at Olin for 43 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the VFW Post 1308. Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, John Brueggeman of Washington, DC, Dr. Michael Brueggeman (Tracey) of Jackson, TN, Dr. Patrick Brueggeman (Signorella) of Vero Beach, FL, Chris Brueggeman (Karen) of Godfrey, and Tim Brueggeman of Alton, one daughter, Beth Dudley (Steve) of Rosewood Heights, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Papin (Tom) and Nonie Brunner both of Godfrey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mark and Bob, and sisters, Loretta, Marcella, and Josephine, and a grandson, Alex Brueggeman. A memorial visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Father Jerry Wickenhauser will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Charities. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
