William Crane

William J. Crane, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Barnes – Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on February 11, 1930, in Alton the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Loftis) Crane. He married his beautiful angel Bonita Brooks on June 1, 1952, in Bethalto and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters and sons in law: Debra and Bret Doiron of Prairie Du Rocher, Illinois, Julie and Jack Graham of Alton, two sons and a daughter in law: Michael and Lisa Crane of Bethel, Missouri, Gary Crane of Alton, four grandchildren: Jeremy, Bobbie, Jessica, Chelsea, step – grandchildren, seven great grandchildren: Evan, Phillip, Joseph, Lexy, Xander, Jason, Jazmyn, two sisters: Patricia Rose of Alton, and Bonnie Trail of Godfrey.

He was formerly employed as a machine operator in the decorating department at Owens – Illinois Glass Works. He enjoyed fishing. He was a re-enactor for the French Marines. He was a professional recycling engineer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 9:30am until time of funeral services at 11am on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
