Robert Lee Cox, age 68 passed away January 10, 2013 at St. Johns Hospice in Springfield, Illinois with his children by his side.

Born August 8, 1944, at home in Plainview to Harry Andrew “Andy” and Dorothy Marie (Fricker). He grew up on his family farm in Plainview and then lived on his own farm in Plainview until moving to Arizona.

He married Marina Rice on December 5, 1969.

He joined the Army Reserves, where he worked as a helicopter repairman and riot control assignment. . He then worked at Shipman Elevator until 1978.

He also worked as a welder at Ameron Pipe Co in Phoenix, AZ from 1978-2004 and after retiring returned back to Carlinville.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. He was an active Scout parent, having two boys as eagle scouts. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred Cox, and an infant brother Charles.

Surviving are a daughter and her husband Marissa Louise and Clint Mitchell of Carlinville, son Kendall Lee Cox and wife Stephanie of Lugoff, South Carolina, and son Nathan Robert Cox of Chicago.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Driston, Killian, Matilda, and Britton Mitchell, Xander Stroud and Maren Cox; A sister, Thelma Schall, and brothers, Gerald, Jim, Don.

Visitation will be on Sunday January 13, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at Targhetta & Woolridge Funeral home in Brighton, Services will take place on Monday January 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. the funeral home.

Burial will be in Medora Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troops 62 or 87
