Millicent "Millie" K. Franke, age 92, passed away at 3:30 am on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Staunton.
She was born in Worden IL on January 14, 1918, daughter of Otis and Anna (Zirges) Drake.
She married Alvin W. Franke on February 22, 1936 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairietown. He passed away August 7, 1977.
Millie was a homemaker most of her life and then became a waitress for the Parkway and Pancake Ranch. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Prairietown. She helped her husband as the Hamel township tax collector and on the family farm. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Harold & Joanne Franke of Bethalto; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann & Bob Brakhane of Holiday Shores; three grandchildren, Don Franke, Den Franke and Ryan Brakhane; four great grandchildren, Alexa, Kaden, Tyler and Tori; one sister-in-law, Jonee Drake of St. Peters, MO and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Ron Brakhane and two brothers, Selmar and Lester Drake.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until funeral service will be at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairietown with Pastor Dale Skeesick officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
