Barbara Pelan

Bethalto |

On April 10, 2022, at 10:18 a.m. Barbara Carolyn Pelan went to meet her heavenly Father; her husband and daughters by her side. She was born in Alton, Illinois on October 9, 1938. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Raymond and Lois Volz; her grandmother and grandfather, Herman and Myrtle Falkenhain. She loved and cherished her early life with them.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Francis Pelan. They celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary the day before her passing. She is also survived by her three loving daughters; Sheri Frazier and her husband Gregory Frazier, her daughter Lori Pelan, and her youngest daughter Elizabeth Lee and her husband Michael Lee; her dear sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Jeff Eddinger; her grandchildren Michael Frazier, Ryan Frazier, Jaime Armstrong, Jacob Waddell, Abigail Waddell, Raegan Waddell, Patrick Owens, James Hull, Tyler Svoboda, Heather Lee, and Nicki Skelton; and their spouses or significant others. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

Barbara, known as Babs by most of her family and friends, has undoubtedly been embraced by the loving arms of Jesus and her dear departed family and friends, as she was the most loving and kind person to everyone she met. She loved her work as a nurse where she worked tirelessly. She loved fiercely, and always had fun with her family; and both her Illinois and her Riverwood’s friends. She loved to paint, play tennis, sing in the choir, play bells, and mostly dance with her husband.

There will be a Visitation & Funeral Mass Saturday, May 7th at our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto, Illinois. The visitation is from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Valhalla Cemetery in Godfrey, Illinois.

Charles, Sheri, Lori, and Beth would be honored to have family and friends join them for a luncheon following the graveside service at the Church.

Please join our family in this celebration of her incredible life and the love and kindness she shared with everyone she knew. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which was dear to her heart. Online donations can be made at http://giftfunds.stjude.org/barbara_babs_pelan-memorial.
