Geneva E. Heffington, 98, passed away at 2:35 am Saturday August 25, 2018 at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born in Batchtown on August 1, 1920 the daughter of Andrew and Theresa (Brinkman) Snyders.
Geneva married Melvin Heffington on September 22, 1938 in Batchtown.
She was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Batchtown where she served on the Altar Society. She was a member of the Red Hat Mamma’s, loved to quilt, loved fishing, and was a St. Louis Cardinal’s Fan.
Geneva is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law and a daughter and son-in-law, Melvin & Sara Heffington of Hardin, Vera & Pat Droege of Meppen, William & Cynthia Heffington of Batchtown, and Edward & Lisa Heffington of Godfrey; thirteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Wilschetz; two sisters, Thelma Marlow and Mildred Snyders; two sons-in-law, Diego Reyes and Lloyd Wilschetz, a daughter-in-law, Ann Heffington, and a grandson, Kevin Heffington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday August 29, 2018 at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Thursday August 30, 2018 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Batchtown with Fr. Don Roberts celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Barbara’s Cemetery in Batchtown.
