Marjorie E. (Eldred) Oettle, 90, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 3:35 am, in Kirkwood, MO.
She was born on May 9, 1928, in Eldred, IL, the daughter of Chauncey D. and Angie (Tribble) Eldred, both deceased. She married Wilfred Merle Oettle on August 2, 1947 in Alton, IL. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2010.
Marjorie was a school teacher for two years in Haypress, IL, and worked for Canteen Vending Company of Alton for 30 plus years. She was a member of Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling and took many great trips. When her daughter was in the Piasa Indians, she loved being a chaperone and going along on their adventures. She also enjoyed shopping, fishing, decorating, the Cardinals and crafts (she made many beautiful sequined calendars). Marjorie was an excellent cook, baker and candy maker, everyone looked forward to partaking in anything she made.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Melroy of Kirkwood, MO; three grandchildren, Mark (Monica) Melroy, Gregory Melroy and Christopher Melroy; two great grandchildren, Alec and Dominic; a sister-in-law, Edith Oettle; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Wilson E. Eldred as well as a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Stanley Jouett.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4 to 7 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11 am, with Pastor Greg Linscott officiating, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
