Rebecca Kessinger

White Hall |

Rebecca Ann Kessinger, 57, died at 7:47 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 in Jerseyville.

She was born in Jerseyville on June 4, 1960 to the late Harold and Vivian (Weller) Kessinger and attended Jerseyville schools.

Growing up in a large family of nine children, Rebecca learned early on the values of hard work and sacrifice.

She resided in Rushville for many years, working various jobs throughout the years to provide a loving home for her four children. Later in life, she found her true passion in the healthcare industry and worked for over 10 years as an LPN for Synders Vaughn-Haven in Rushville. She cared lovingly for her patients as if they were her own family, and her quick wit and beaming smile brought comfort to them and their families alike.

For the past seven years, she has made her home in White Hall and relished in the time she was able to spend with her family, most especially her children and grandchildren. To Rebecca, her family fulfilled everything she needed in this world. There was nothing she enjoyed more than gathering with them, one or all, with a Diet Pepsi in hand and laughing and sharing stories with one another.

While Rebecca surely had her share of struggles throughout her life, she was blessed beyond words to have the companionship of Robin Benedict for the past year and a half. Rob allowed her to leave his world with the understanding of what it felt to be loved, respected and cherished.

Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Stephanie Shelby; Rachel and Travis Wells; and Crystal and Dave Maharg, all of White Hall; a son and daughter in-law, Aaron and Sasha Middleton of Virginia; eleven grandchildren, Rebecca, Jacob, Lucas, Elizabeth, Haley, Lacey, Waylon, Tyvin, Ethan, Steven and Seth; her devoted companion, Robin Benedict of Jerseyville; three sisters, Sanna Graybek of Florida; Melissa Herring of Jerseyville and Jennifer Hoots of Roodhouse; three brothers, Michael Kessinger of Roodhouse; Joseph Kessinger of Patterson; and John Kessinger of White Hall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Charles Middleton at 4 months old; a brother, William Kessinger; as well as a sister, Valerie Benedict.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation rights will be accorded and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.

Memorials may be given to the Family, in care of Crawford Funeral Home who has been entrusted with arrangements.
