Carol Stucker

White Hall |

Carol Ann (Edwards) Stucker, 75, died peacefully at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at her home in White Hall after a hard fought battle with Colon Cancer.

She was born on May 29, 1942 in Jacksonville, one of four children born to Newton Francis and Laura Edith (Wilson) Edwards.

Carol grew up in Jacksonville and graduated with the class of 1960 from Jacksonville High School. Shortly thereafter she married the love of her life, Edward Stucker on June 5, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, and together their union was blessed with three children and 57 years of marital bliss.

Their married life was filled with love and adventure and took them to several locations throughout the years. They spent the first year of their marriage in Virginia where Edward was stationed with the United States Army. After his discharge, they returned to Illinois, settling in Jerseyville where they remained for nearly 30 years raising their children. They then relocated to Orange County, CA in 1989 where Carol began working for the Orange County Probation Office as a Subpoena Clerk, retiring after 9 years of service. It was following her retirement that Edward and Carol found themselves back in Illinois, this time in White Hall where they have resided for the past 19 years.

Carol developed many passions throughout the years, but her main passions included traveling the country with her husband on their motorcycle, camping with friends and family, following her beloved St. Louis Cardinals and spending 13 years as a snowbird in Florida.

While she was blessed with many opportunities throughout her life, her greatest blessing was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Surviving are her mother, Laura Edwards of Jacksonville; her husband, Edward Stucker of White Hall; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddy & Brenda Stucker of Bluffs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Melinda Stucker of White Hall and Marlene & Robert Schofield of Murrayville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Nicole & William Parris of Bethalto; Cory Stucker of Bethalto; Erik & Shelly Chapman of Quitman, AR; Breanna & Nic Savage of Jacksonville and Roy Stucker of Quincy; two step-grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica & Josh Holmes of Winchester and Barbie & Chris Clark of Exeter; the “joy of her life” , her great-grandson, Ephriam Parris; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene & Bill Sims of Jacksonville and Joyce & John Hembrough of Dothan, AL; a brother and sister-in-law, David & Rhonda Edwards of Pleasant Plains; her former daughter-in-law, Tammy Laslie of Jerseyville; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Newton Edwards.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 12 noon, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville with Pastor Jason Pierce officiating.

Burial will take place at the Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Carrollton.
