An Illinois congressman is making an endorsement in the U.S. Senate race—and it’s not his colleague in the House.
U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-Chicago) is backing the U.S. Senate bid of Andrea Zopp, as she seeks to beat U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Hoffman Estates) for the Democratic nomination.
Zopp says she’s thrilled to have Davis’ support, considering his 18 years of experience on Capitol Hill.

“So to have his support I think just lends credence to the fact that our campaign is continuing to build momentum,” Zopp said, “The more I get out and tell my message and tell what I can bring to the Senate and to the…political leadership in the state, we are starting to build.”
Zopp says she and Congressman Davis seek to address many of the same issues, including criminal justice reform.
The rest of the Illinois congressional delegation has largely remained out of the Senate race, though Duckworth has the support of U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin.
