If you are traveling outside the country, the Illinois Department of Public Health wants you to know about the risk of contracting the Zika Virus.  The Zika Virus is transmitted by mosquitoes.  It doesn't cause too many problems for most people, but there is a possible link between Zika infection in pregnant women and birth defects. 

Two cases have been confirmed in Illinois, but Public Health Director Doctor Nirav Shah says the public shouldn't be alarmed.

The CDC is urging pregnant women planning on traveling to areas where the Zika virus is more common like Brazil, Columbia and Mexico to reconsider their plans.
