The YWCA of Alton held its 25th annual Women of Distinction event last night, this time with a silver anniversary dinner at Lewis and Clark Community College. The celebration honored ten local women who have made significant contributions to the community.
Honored this year as a Woman of Distinction were Louise Baker, Colleen Green, Heather Hope, Cheryl Maguire, Valerie McDougler, Tiana Montgomery, Eva Perkins, Kathryn Sharpe, Sue Weber, and Bethany Wooden-Chapel. They join more than 200 women who have been honored by the “Y” since 1991. Co-chaired this year by Monica Bristow of the Riverbend Growth Association, and Margaret Freer of Freer Auto Body, the dinner was also a fundraiser for the YWCA.
