More than 500 graves will be decorated Saturday morning at the Alton National Cemetery on Pearl Street as part of the Wreaths Across America program.  For about two decades, the decorations have been placed at the Arlington National Cemetery and others across the country and this will be the seventh year for decorations in Alton.

Alton resident Margaret Hopkins is organizing the effort again and says the actual laying of the wreaths will be performed with local students and veterans, and will only take about a half-hour.

Hopkins comments

The ceremony itself is scheduled for 11am.  Donations can always be made to Alton Wreaths Across America at P.O. Box 181 Alton, IL, 62002.  For more information, contact Hopkins at 474-2005.
