For a number of years homeowners in Wood River got used to paying lower taxes. The tax levy is remaining basically the same for the fourth consecutive year, with the 2014-2015 fiscal year levy coming in at $2,082,235.
City Finance Director Tracy Kennett says there was one area that accounted for most of the savings:

For years, the continued stabilization or lowering of the taxes has been used as a marketing tool when it comes to attracting new people and businesses to town. Kennett also notes that since the city has kept up with its payments to the police and fire pension funds, they are not in the same bind as many other municipalities across the state.
