There's a new contract in place for employees in the Public Service Department in Wood River. The City Council passed a 3-year deal with Laborer's Local 338, that is a fair deal for both sides, according to City Manager Jim Schneider.
In other city business, agreements were ratified between the city, IDOT and three railroads concerning the closure of Evans Street. A couple of properties were declared unsafe and a public nuisance, leading the way to possible demolition. The possibility of an additional $20 bond fee was discussed in the pre-meeting, as well as the plan to install an ATM in the police waiting area. Since the police department is connected to City Hall, Schneider says this would also be beneficial to anyone in the building.
