The 100th anniversary of the Wood River Woman's Club is coming up April 10 at Julia's Banquet Center in East Alton. Club members will reflect of their first century during the dinner and program from 1-4pm that day, and it's free to attend.
The club was founded in March of 1916 when the club planted 2,000 trees, cleaned up and beautified the area with flowers, and a huge 4th of July parade and picnic was organized. Woman's Club Co-President Helen Crause tells The Big Z there will be a lot of memorabilia on display at the anniversary celebration.
