A woman is recovering from stab wounds suffered in the parking lot of an Alton counseling office. The unidentified woman was accosted on the parking lot of Wellspring Resources Wednesday afternoon. She suffered injuries to her head, neck and hand.
She was treated and released at a local hospital. The woman had apparently just arrived at the facility for a counseling session with her 6-year-old son, who was not injured. 36-year-old Anthony D. Davis of the 1,200 block of Spaulding has a history of mental illness, according to Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons, and has been charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated battery. He is being held on $250,000 bond.
