A woman was pulled from the icy waters of the Mississippi River last night after her car rolled into the river near the Missouri side of the Clark Bridge. The unidentified woman was behind the wheel when her car entered the river near U.S. 67 and Riverlands Way in West Alton around 9:00 Friday night. She was taken to the hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
A deputy from the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department was patrolling the area near the Lincoln Shields Recreation area when he reported seeing a car travelling between 30 and 40 miles per hour drive off of the road and into the river. The deputy jumped in the river and pulled the woman to shore.
