Federal authorities say a former postal worker in East Alton faked an injury and then lied about doctor and hospital visits and could now face up to 30 years in jail. 29-year-old Ashton Luck of South Roxana pled guilty this week to a count of workers compensation fraud and five counts of making false statements.
Federal prosecutors say while she worked at the East Alton Post Office, Luck submitted a fraudulent workers compensation claim for a purported on-the-job injury. She also admitted that she submitted a number of false leave slips, fabricated a doctor’s note and falsified hospital records in support of claimed emergency and sick leave. Luck faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. She will be sentenced on March 10, 2016.
