An Alton woman will see jail time and has agreed to cooperate in future trials after she pleaded guilty to leading a drug ring based out of South Roxana. 25-year-old Chelsea Schollmeier of the 2900 block of Buena Vista in Alton pleaded to a count of unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of public housing.
Authorities alleged Schollmeier lead a group of at least four other people who have already pleaded guilty in connection with the drug investigation. A fifth person is awaiting trial. Schollmeier would obtain heroin in St. Louis then sell it in the Riverbend and beyond, primarily from a home in the 700 block of Conner Street. Neighbor complaints and concerns of family members lead police to watch the area and begin their investigation. Police say the drug sales they observed took place in January of this year. A judge will sentence Schollmeier and under the plea deal she will get no more than 15 years in prison.
