You may encounter some slick spots on the roadways throughout the day today as a winter weather system moves through the Riverbend. The first wave of precipitation dropped as much as a quarter inch of snow in some areas overnight. A second wave is forecasted to reach the Riverbend this morning and last through the evening hours, bringing with it a light glazing of ice and less than an inch of snow.
Crews will be out treating roadways and IDOT encourages motorists to give plows plenty of room to work. IDOT also recommends keeping a close eye on overpasses and bridges as they are often the first places to accumulate ice during systems like this.
