The first West Nile deaths are being reported in Illinois.  Two people from northern Illinois who tested positive for the virus have died.  But as a whole, West Nile hasn't hit Illinois as hard this year, according to state Department of Public Health Spokesman Melanie Arnold.

Still, the virus - which is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito - remains a threat until the first hard freeze.
