Two-lanes continue to move traffic in and out of Alton, as southbound traffic remains on the upper lanes of U.S. 67 heading across the Clark Bridge heading into Missouri. With the lower lanes of U.S. 67 underwater on the Missouri side of the bridge, MoDot officials are at the mercy of the river. After more rain last week, the river has not returned to a level that would allow traffic on the lower lanes.
The detour runs from the bridge to Highway 94 where traffic will then shift to the lower lanes. MoDOT spokesman Shonda White tells The Big Z drivers are urged to give and take.

The Mississippi River is supposed to crest in Alton tomorrow (Tuesday). Current predictions show the river dropping below flood stage late next week.
