The Mississippi River at Alton is slowly falling, but there is still no target for reopening the lower lanes of U.S. 67 in Missouri between the Clark Bridge and Highway 94. The lower lanes were closed a week-and-a-half ago, and it looks they will remain closed through the holiday weekend and well into next week.
More rain continues to fall to the north, meaning the slow fall of the river will continue to be monitored. MoDOT spokesman Shonda White tells The Big Z they are watching the river just like the rest of us.

She continues to remind that crews will have to clean and check the pavement to make sure it is safe for travel, and then convert the lanes. White asks drivers to have patience and be courteous to others on the highway throughout the reduction in lanes.
