A task force will take on the violence problem in Illinois. The governor signed the bill creating the panel at a basketball camp in Chicago.
The group is supposed to spread the word about jobs young people can get, and help church and community groups which try to show kids the way. Legislative leaders and the governor will appoint the six members.

At least one leader knows this isn’t over. “This is a not a problem or a crisis that we can cry ourselves out of, or that we can pray ourselves out of, or that we can talk ourselves out of,” said Illinois Department of Public Health director Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck. “We have to plan, do and assess our way out of this issue.”
