Vape shops in Illinois say new federal safety rules could put them out of business, and possibly harm their customers. The Food and Drug Administration is ready with new rules giving them the power to study vaping as a public health concern. Kevin Doerr with Vape One in Bloomington says the feds should ask if vaping is safer than smoking cigarettes.

“People come into the store looking to quit smoking tobacco cause it's killing them,” Doerr said. “It's killing them and they know it.” But Erika Sward with the American Lung Association says they've seen a huge uptick in the number of teens picking-up a vape kit.
“The problem is, like every other tobacco product, an initiation of their use begins when people are kids,” Sward added. Doerr says he knows there are health questions about vaping, but says he stopped smoking to packs of cigarettes a day when he picked-up a vape kit. He says he feels much better now.
