The Alton chapter of the Sierra Club is hosting an Urban Farm Tour tomorrow. It is a free, self-guided tour for people who are interested in seeing how and where their food is grown around the Metro East. A variety of "farmers" will be on hand to explain their operations in Madison, Jersey, and St. Clair counties, ranging from Community Supported Farms, farms that supply soup kitchens, neighborhood gardens in food deserts, and bees.
The Sierra Club's Christine Favilla says this is their first attempt at organizing such a tour.
