Just about everyone forgets to renew an auto insurance policy at some point and now, Illinois lawmakers want to make sure they aren't penalized too harshly for the slip-up.  A senate committee passed a bill that would allow six months of court supervision for people caught driving without insurance for the first time.

The person would be required to have insurance during the entire supervision period.  The bill now heads to the Illinois Senate floor for a full vote.
