The unemployment rate in Illinois is one reason three state senators from the area will be attending a hearing on unemployment today at the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center. The hearing is open to the public and begins at 1:00. There will also be representatives on hand from business and economic entities.
Senator Andy Manar, a Bunker Hill Democrat, says something should be done to reduce the unemployment rate in Illinois, and it would help to know why it is as high as it is.
Manar will be joined by fellow State Senators Bill Haine of Alton and Sam McCann of Carlinville. Also scheduled to attend are RiverBend Growth Association President Monica Bristow and John Theen of Cope Plastics.
