The Illinois Department of Employment Security says unemployment rates dropped in every metro area in Illinois in September.  The drop compares this September to last year.  The St. Louis Metro East area saw unemployment just over eight-percent, compared to over nine-percent in 2011.

The IDES says the biggest drop came in Rockford, where the unemployment rate fell two-point-six points, but still remains at eleven-percent. Greg Rivara with the Illinois Department of Employment Security says unemployment rates dropped in every metro area in Illinois in September.

In Chicago, the unemployment rate dropped two-point-one percent to eight-percent. He says the rates in some places are still unacceptably high, but they are doing better. The state's unemployment rate is eight-point-one percent.
