A former waitress and hostess at Amarillo Tex's Steakhouse in Alton have each pleaded guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Commit Access Device Fraud in federal court. 22-year-old Shadwonna Marie Bausily of Alton and 32-year-old Jamie Lynn Erwin of Glen Carbon used a credit card skimmer as part of an operation to steal from customers. Each could face up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine at sentencing.
In the plea, Bausily says she was in a romantic relationship with a man by the name of Miltiano Johnson at the time she was working as hostess, and he taught her how to use the skimmer. Bausily then approached Erwin about helping obtain the credit cards to skim, which is a process of swiping cards through a machine that takes the cardholders' information, and allows it to be placed on another card. Miltiano Johnson, along with his wife, Carlene Johnson, and friend, Michael Montgomery, would use the cards encoded with victim credit card information to purchase items at stores in the St. Louis metro area. They have each pleaded guilty to their roles in the conspiracy and have been sentenced by the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
