Authorities in St. Louis County are investigating the shooting of two police officers early this morning. The officers were part of a law enforcement group that had responded to protests outside the Ferguson, Missouri police department last night. The officers that were shot were from St. Louis County and Webster Groves, and were treated for their injuries and released.
St. Louis County Police are investigating the shooting incident and are actively looking for suspects. Authorities say police officers responded to the Ferguson police department last night as two groups of protestors had gathered following the resignation of Ferguson's police chief. Just after midnight, the groups were beginning to disperse when at least three shots rang out and the two officers were hit. One officer was hit in the torso, the other in the face. Police leadership believes the officers were targeted. There were a number of witnesses, including police, who saw possible gunfire from a nearby property, but so far no suspects have been publicly identified.
