Detectives from the Alton Police Department believe they have identified the two men who they believe robbed an Alton convenience store last September. Charges of armed robbery have been filed against 25-year-old Demarco T. Perry (pictured, top) of the 700 block of Park Drive and 22-year-old DeShawn L. Williams (pictured, bottom) of the 3,200 block of Edsall Street. Neither suspect is in custody at this time.
The two allegedly entered A-Town Spot on Central Avenue just before 10pm September 25 with their guns drawn. After entering the store, the two robbers split up with one suspect demanding money from the cash register while the other held another store employee at gun point. Investigators say the suspects then removed the money from the register and fled the store with close to $250 in cash. Alton Police arrived on scene and began searching for the pair with assistance from a canine unit from the East Alton Police Department. The search ended a short time later when they lost the robbers' scent near Pleasant Street. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the robbers can call Alton police at 463-3505 or the anonymous tip line at 465-5948.
