The victim of a beating on a Downtown Alton parking lot earlier this month remains hospitalized in critical condition with numerous injuries. The victim was allegedly beaten unconscious by twin brothers at around 3am – closing time for the local bars – on May 3.
The incident happened on the big parking lot adjacent to Danny’s Lounge, but police say they were not in that bar. In fact, it is believed the altercation didn’t begin in any bar, but rather on that parking lot. The victim is identified by authorities as 43-year-old John Gleason of the 3,200 block of Belle Street in Alton. His alleged attackers are identified as 24-year-old Aaron Hosford of the 400 block of Prospect in Wood River and his brother Adam Hosford of the 100 block of Wood River Avenue in East Alton. They are each charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of mob action, and are being held on $100,000. Gleason suffered multiple injuries.
