Residents of Jersey, Greene and Calhoun Counties may soon have an opportunity to take a bus to run errands or go to work. A committee called Tri-County Transportation has worked up a plan to provide public transportation to the three counties, but progress has slowed after a couple of years of putting all the ingredients together.
Rather than having designated routes, this would be a "ride on demand" service, meaning people will have to call ahead for service - likely from those needing to get to doctor appointments or jobs. Jersey County Business Association CEO Mary Heitzig tells The Big Z they are waiting on the paperwork to be approved.

She says this will be a great service for anyone who doesn’t drive or doesn’t own an automobile. Heitzig says the Tri County area is one of a shrinking handful of areas in the state without some form of rural transit system.
