A 36-year-old Bunker Hill man has been charged in the alleged kidnapping and other crimes against his estranged wife. Jonathan Trexler is charged in Jersey County with aggravated kidnapping, home invasion and aggravated criminal sexual assault following an incident this week. He remains in custody.
The Jersey County State's Attorney's Office filed the charges today against Trexler who was the subject of a search on Thursday along with his wife, 39 year old Tracie Trexler. Police were notified of the missing man and woman late Wednesday and authorities began the search. The investigation led them to a trailer in Calhoun County on Thursday where the couple was found. She was eventually freed and he was taken into custody following a brief standoff with police. Authorities allege that Jonathan Trexler used a handgun while committing the crimes against the victim. He is being held on a half-million dollar bond and has been ordered to stay away from the victim, their children, and the victim's family. Additional charges are pending in Calhoun County.
