The criminal case against a man who is charged with kidnapping his estranged wife in Jersey County last month was delayed once again. A court hearing Monday was delayed by another week and will now take place Monday May 23 in the criminal case against 36-year-old Jonathan Trexler of Bunker Hill.
No reason was given for the delay this week, although the delay last week was due to authorities still waiting for reports from the various agencies involved in the incident involving Trexler from last month. On April 6, Trexler allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife from her home in rural Jersey County and took her to a trailer in Calhoun County where police caught up with him the next day. Trexler is charged in Jersey County with aggravated kidnapping, home invasion and aggravated criminal sexual abuse while Calhoun County authorities charged him with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Bond in each county is $500,000. Trexler remains in custody.
