Eagle watching will draw thousands of people to the Riverbend over the next couple of months, but they are far from the only attraction the area has to offer. Over the course of a normal year, there are concerts, festivals, fairs, and other attractions to draw visitors to the region. Those visitors spend a lot of money, according to the head of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Brett Stawar says there are a number of long-standing events that continue to be a big part of the local calendar, and points to a brand-new event that recently wrapped up.

Stawar says stakeholders in the local tourism industry, including business owners, elected officials and tourism experts, gathered last week to hear the latest news on how the industry is positively affecting the local economy in Madison, Jersey and Calhoun counties.
