If you're not sick of elections, here's something else you can vote on. The Illinois Tollway Authority is allowing the public to vote on the safety messages that will be posted on the overhead signs along with travel times. Tolllway director Kristi Lafleur says 640 entries came in, and tollway staff narrowed that to the 15 on the ballot.
We've done some initial screening and selected the top five in each of three categories impaired driving, distracted driving and not wearing seat belts and now, between now and April 17, we'd love for the public to go to our website at www.IllinoisTollway.com and vote for their top choice in each category, she said.

Previously, the safety messages were dreamed up by staffers at the Tollway Authority or the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Among the entries are Leave the Tweets for the Passenger Seats and Your Driving is Lousy when you're Drowsy.
The winners will get the honor of seeing their slogans on 37 Illinois Tollway message boards for the rest of the year. The winners will be announced the week of April 20.
