A Godfrey man was arrested this week after police allegedly found drugs and guns on him after a traffic stop. 25 year old James A. Bratton of the 1200 block of Preis Lane was pulled over for failure to use a turn signal on Godfrey Road Tuesday night just after 9:30. A Madison County Sheriff's Department Canine Unit conducted a walk around of the vehicle and detected the presence of narcotics. Bratton was reportedly found with two bags of cannabis and a loaded handgun in his pockets and other bags of cannabis in his vehicle. He is charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to distribute and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
East Alton Police were holding 26 year old Jennifer Johnson of the 200 block of Wood River Avenue in East Alton on three outstanding warrants. 22 year old David Frost of the 200 block of Virginia in East Alton, held for failure to register as a sex offender. 41 year old Anthony Garris of the 3900 block of Fountain City in DeSoto, Missouri, held for retail theft, resisting a peace officer and intoxicated pedestrian.
A Macoupin County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a two vehicle crash on Route 16 in Piasa on Tuesday. 39 year old Lt. Ryan Dixon was traveling east on Route 16 with his emergency lights activated when a pick-up truck driven by a 17 year old female pulled out from Piasa Road in front of him. Dixon's vehicle struck the truck, with the driver and an 18 year old female passenger taken to Jersey Community Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Lt. Dixon later checked into Carlinville Area Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries and was released. The Illinois State Police is investigating the crash.
