Three businesses in Godfrey were cited during a recent compliance check by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. According to a report issued by the office Friday, Melville Dairy, Roper’s Regal Beagle and Casey’s General Store on West Delmar were each cited for unlawful sale of an alcoholic liquor to a minor. In addition to citations against the stores, the on-duty clerk at the time of sale was also cited. 45-year old Rachel E. Schuyler of the 2720 block of West Delmar in Godfrey, 37-year old Richard R. Burrell Jr of the 5700 block of Piasa Trail in Godfrey and 23-year old Amy L. Brazier of the 400 block of Winona in Bethalto were each cited for the same offense.
Ten other businesses in Godfrey were found to be in compliance during the random check. The sheriff’s office says it will continue to conduct checks in an effort to deterring underage drinking.
